Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators free?

Yes. They are free to use for study, teaching and your own business planning.

How should I use the results?

Treat them as a starting point. A ratio means most when you compare it with similar businesses and with the same business over time.

Do the calculators use standard formulas?

Yes, the standard textbook formulas shown above. Some syllabuses use slight variations, such as using average rather than closing balances, so check your own course notes.

Which ratio should I use to test liquidity?

The current ratio counts all current assets. The quick ratio is stricter because it excludes inventory. Looking at both gives a fuller picture.
